🌿 Care Guide
Plant Name: Dracaena Massangeana (Makai Patta)
Botanical Name: Dracaena fragrans 'Massangeana'
Common Names: Corn Plant, Happy Plant, Makai Patta
Origin: Tropical Africa
🌞 Light
Thrives in bright, indirect light. Tolerates low to medium light well, making it ideal for offices and living rooms. Avoid direct sunlight which scorches the leaves.
💧 Watering
Water when the top 1–2 inches of soil feel dry. Use filtered or room-temperature water if possible — fluoride in tap water causes brown tips. Reduce watering in winter.
🌡️ Temperature
Ideal range: 65–85°F (18–29°C). Sensitive to cold — protect from drafts and temperatures below 55°F (13°C).
🌱 Soil
Use a well-draining indoor potting mix with added perlite for good aeration and drainage.
✂️ Maintenance
Wipe leaves with a damp cloth to keep them glossy. Remove brown or dead leaves from the base. Fertilize lightly once a month during the growing season. Repot every 2–3 years.
⚠️ Sad Plant Signs
🟡 Yellow leaves – Overwatering or poor drainage.
🍂 Brown tips – Fluoride in water, low humidity, or underwatering. Use filtered water.
📉 Pale, faded leaves – Too much direct sun. Move to bright indirect light.
