Plant Name: Snake Plant Green
Botanical Name: Dracaena trifasciata
Common Names: Mother-in-Law's Tongue, Viper's Bowstring Hemp
Origin: West Africa
Tolerates low to bright indirect light. One of the most adaptable houseplants — thrives in almost any indoor condition. Avoid prolonged direct harsh sun.
Water only when the soil is completely dry — every 2–3 weeks in summer. Reduce to once a month in winter. Overwatering is the most common mistake.
Ideal range: 60–85°F (16–29°C). Keep away from cold drafts and temperatures below 50°F (10°C).
Use a well-draining cactus or succulent mix. Good drainage prevents the root rot that kills most snake plants.
Wipe leaves with a damp cloth to remove dust and maximize light absorption. Remove yellow or dead leaves at the base. Repot every 2–3 years when rootbound.
🟡 Yellow, mushy leaves – Overwatering. Let soil dry completely.
🟤 Brown tips – Low humidity or inconsistent watering.
📉 Drooping leaves – Root rot or very severe underwatering.
