🌿 Care Guide
Plant Name: Adenium
Botanical Name: Adenium obesum
Common Names: Desert Rose, Impala Lily, Mock Azalea
Origin: Africa and Arabian Peninsula
🌞 Light
Requires full, direct sunlight for best flowering — at least 6 hours per day. Ideal for sunny balconies and south-facing windows.
💧 Watering
Use the soak and dry method — water thoroughly then let soil dry completely before watering again. Reduce to monthly watering in winter. Overwatering is the biggest threat.
🌡️ Temperature
Thrives in 65–100°F (18–38°C). Very sensitive to cold — protect from temperatures below 50°F (10°C) and bring indoors in winter.
🌱 Soil
Use gritty, fast-draining cactus mix. Never use heavy soil that retains moisture. The swollen caudex (base) stores water naturally.
✂️ Maintenance
Prune after flowering to encourage branching and more blooms. Remove dead flowers and leaves. Fertilize with a phosphorus-rich fertilizer during the growing season to promote flowering.
⚠️ Sad Plant Signs
🟡 Yellow, soft leaves and stem rot – Overwatering. Reduce immediately.
🍂 No flowers – Insufficient sunlight or needs fertilizing.
📉 Dropping leaves – Normal in winter dormancy or caused by cold stress.
