🌿 Care Guide
Plant Name: Boston Fern in Hanging Basket
Botanical Name: Nephrolepis exaltata
Common Names: Boston Fern, Sword Fern
Origin: Tropical Americas
🌞 Light
Thrives in bright, indirect light. A north- or east-facing window is ideal. Avoid direct sun which scorches the delicate fronds.
💧 Watering
Keep soil consistently moist but never waterlogged. Water when the top of the soil feels slightly dry. Boston Ferns dislike drying out completely.
🌡️ Temperature
Ideal range: 60–75°F (16–24°C). Keep away from cold drafts, AC vents, and temperatures below 50°F (10°C).
🌱 Soil
Use a peat-based, well-draining potting mix that retains some moisture. Adding perlite improves aeration.
✂️ Maintenance
Remove yellow or dead fronds regularly. Mist the leaves frequently or place a tray of water nearby to maintain humidity. In a hanging basket, the plant naturally cascades beautifully as fronds grow longer.
⚠️ Sad Plant Signs
🟡 Yellow fronds – Overwatering or low humidity.
🍂 Brown, crispy tips – Dry air or inconsistent watering.
📉 Drooping fronds – Underwatering. Water thoroughly right away.
