🌿 Care Guide
Plant Name: Drimiopsis
Botanical Name: Drimiopsis maculata
Common Names: African False Squill, Little White Soldier, Leopard Plant
Origin: South Africa
🌞 Light
Thrives in bright, indirect light. Tolerates partial shade well. Avoid intense direct sun which can fade the distinctive spotted leaf markings.
💧 Watering
Water when the top inch of soil feels dry. The bulb stores water, so the plant is moderately drought-tolerant. Reduce watering significantly in winter dormancy.
🌡️ Temperature
Ideal range: 60–80°F (16–27°C). Hardy enough for mild conditions but protect from frost below 50°F (10°C).
🌱 Soil
Use a well-draining potting mix. Adding perlite improves drainage and root health.
✂️ Maintenance
Remove yellowing leaves as they appear. Plant goes semi-dormant in winter — reduce water and let rest. Produces small white flowers in spring. Divide bulb clumps every 2–3 years.
⚠️ Sad Plant Signs
🟡 Yellow leaves – Overwatering or natural dormancy. Check soil moisture.
🍂 Faded spotting – Too much direct sun. Move to indirect light.
📉 Limp foliage – Underwatering. Water and the leaves will recover.
